The Ducal Palace of the Borja family is considered one of the most important noble mansions of the Crown of Aragon and is the birthplace of Saint Francis Borgia. Notable features include the Gothic Courtyard of Arms and the 17th-century Golden Gallery, which still retains its original period tiles. The room of Francis Borgia has been preserved almost exactly as it was at the time.

The Ducal Palace of Gandía, also known as the Ducal Palace of the Borja family, is one of the city’s most emblematic buildings.

Located within the former walled enclosure that once surrounded the medieval town, the palace is built around a large central courtyard, featuring an adjoining double-flight staircase.

The main entrance is accessed through a semicircular archway with ashlar voussoirs, a characteristic element of noble architecture from the 14th and 15th centuries.

A visit to the palace is one of the main highlights of this route. Among the various rooms to explore, the most remarkable are the Hall of Crowns, the Carròs i Centelles Room, the Golden Room, the 18th-century Manises ceramics depicting the “Four Elements,” and the cell-oratory of Saint Francis Borgia.

Here are some key details to consider during our visit:

Hall of Crowns: This large hall features windows adorned with heraldic motifs overlooking the Courtyard of Arms. It gets its name from the characteristic symbol of the Borja family, which consists of two opposing crowns. This symbol is repeatedly featured throughout the hall.

Golden Gallery: This part of the palace, in the Valencian Baroque style, boasts beautiful ceiling paintings. The gallery displays oils and religious ornaments of great artistic value.

Holy Chapel: One of the most iconic places in the palace, this small oratory has very interesting architecture, with traces of various styles that have left their mark.
Additionally, during the summer months, you can enjoy cultural events linked to the activities of the “Universidad Popular de Gandia” and the “International Classical Music Festival.”
